Home Health United is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Visiting Nurse Service in Dane County. In 1908, the Attic Angel Association hired the first visiting nurse, Maud Reeder, to provide health care and education to people in their homes.
The service began with a budget of $1,000 raised through charity balls and a musical comedy show. The goal was to treat patients “in the line of public charity,” to train people to take care of their ill family members and to prevent the spread of sickness.
