Meal Recipients Ready for Winter
Home Health United – Meals on Wheels volunteer Bob Eby delivered "Blizzard Meals" to Aagot Thorpe of Monona on Tuesday. Thanks to Lona Ehlers and the Madison Rotary Foundation, four hundred Home Health United - Meals on Wheels recipients received two shelf-stable meals in case bad weather forces cancellation of meal delivery.
Lona M.Ehlers made a substantial bequest to the Madison Rotary Foundation in honor of her husband S.C. "Spike" Ehlers, a long-time, loyal member of the Rotary Club of Madison. Her donation established the Lona Ehlers Community Grant Program. The foundation awarded a $1,900 Community Grant to purchase the Blizzard Meals.
Home Health United - Meals on Wheels delivers mid-day meals 365 days a year to more than 300 recipients in Madison, Middleton and Monona, providing a friendly greeting, nutritious meal, a free newspaper and a safety check.
