Packer Fan
Walt Anderson, Home Health United respiratory technician, shows Dick Wittington how to use this portable oxygen concentrator.
Lifelong Green Bay Packer fan, James “Dick” Whittington of Sun Prairie had never been inside Lambeau Field to see a game. On Sunday Sept. 13 he got to cheer on his team in person. His son, Rick Whittington, came from South Dakota to take his parents to see the Packers play the Chicago Bears.
“I went to a practice back when Lombardi was coaching, but I’d never been to a game,” Whittington explained.
The trip was not without challenges. Whittington is on oxygen and needed to bring a supply with him to Green Bay. Liquid oxygen lasts about 16 to 18 hours, but they stayed overnight. Carrie Stanton, respiratory therapist with Home Health United, came up with a solution—a new portable oxygen concentrator. The Sequal Eclipse is about the size of a student’s backpack with wheels and a handle. It operates on batteries, can be charged while driving or plugged into a wall outlet giving an unending supply of oxygen.
"At first I had doubts as to whether we could go at all," Whittington said. "They (Home Health United staff) put a lot into getting everything set up for us."
